dek Privacy Policy

Company or Developer Identity​

dek is provided by Velose Africa. In this policy, "we," "us," and "our" refer to Velose Africa.

Overview​

dek is a teleprompter app for writing scripts, displaying scripts as an on-screen overlay, and recording video with a front-camera preview. Based on the current app design, dek stores scripts, teleprompter settings, and recordings on the user's device and does not require an account.

Information You Provide​

Users may enter script titles, script text, and teleprompter preferences such as scroll speed, font size, colors, overlay size, opacity, and control visibility. This information is used to provide the teleprompter experience and is stored locally on the device.

Camera, Microphone, and Recordings​

dek may request camera and microphone access so users can record video with the teleprompter visible over the camera preview. Camera and microphone access is used only when the user opens camera mode or starts a recording.

Video recordings are saved locally on the device. dek does not upload recordings to our servers. Users may choose to share a recording through the operating system's share sheet, in which case the selected third-party app or service handles the shared file according to its own privacy practices.

Overlay and Notification Permissions​

On Android, dek may request permission to display over other apps so the teleprompter can appear as a floating overlay while the user records or uses another app. dek may also request notification permission for the foreground overlay service, where required by the operating system.

These permissions are used to operate user-requested teleprompter features and are not used to collect information from other apps.

Device Storage​

dek stores scripts and app settings in local app storage. Recordings created in camera mode are stored on the device. Users can manage scripts in the app and manage recordings through their device's storage, gallery, or file management tools where available.

Analytics and Advertising​

dek does not currently include third-party advertising, analytics, account registration, cloud sync, or payment processing SDKs. If this changes, this policy will be updated to describe the information collected and the third-party services involved.

How Information Is Used​

Information stored by dek is used to:

  • Save and display user scripts.
  • Preserve teleprompter settings and selected scripts.
  • Provide overlay and camera recording features.
  • Let users share recordings when they choose to do so.
  • Maintain app functionality and troubleshoot user-reported issues.

Information Sharing​

We do not sell user scripts, settings, or recordings. dek does not upload scripts or recordings to our servers. Information is shared only when the user chooses to export, share, or otherwise send content to another app or service.

Third-Party Services​

dek relies on operating-system and app-store services to distribute the app, manage app permissions, store local files, and provide sharing features. Third-party services selected by the user, such as messaging, storage, or social media apps, are governed by their own privacy policies.

Data Retention and Deletion​

Scripts and settings remain on the device until the user edits or deletes them, clears app data, or uninstalls the app. Recordings remain on the device until the user deletes them using available app, gallery, or file management controls.

Because dek does not currently create user accounts or upload user content to our servers, deleting local app data or uninstalling the app removes locally stored app data from the device, subject to the operating system's backup and restore behavior.

Device Backups​

Depending on the user's device settings, operating-system backup services may back up app data or recordings. Those backups are controlled by the device platform or backup provider, not by dek.

User Rights​

Depending on location, users may have rights to access, correct, delete, export, restrict, or object to processing of personal information. For dek data stored only on the user's device, these controls are generally available through the app, device settings, file management tools, or uninstalling the app.

Children's Privacy​

dek is not intended for children under the age required by applicable law. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child provided information to us, contact us so we can review and respond appropriately.

International Data Transfers​

dek does not currently upload user scripts or recordings to our servers. If a user contacts us for support or chooses to share content through a third-party service, information may be processed in the countries where that email provider, app, platform, or service operates.

Changes to the Policy​

We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
